It's more of a sad game than a dark game. The game is not long, but the story is so meaningful. I just wish that it could be a bit longer. But still, this is 10 out of 10.
So, I made a big video all about the fear of rats. In this video I include a horror novel trilogy, four rat-themed horror games (including this one, Rattenkonig) I also discuss rat kings and other rat-themed phenomena, and also a serial killer with the alter ego of a humanoid rat.
But, regarding this game in particular, I felt it was very unique. It is incredibly simplistic, yet rich with symbolism all the same. The gameplay is okay, being a 2d platformer where you're constantly anchored back by the deadweight of your rotting rat sibling, knotted at the tail with yours. The concept is fantastic. I do wish the game was a tad bit longer, though, as the controls are a bit wonky - and the second I got used to the controls, the game was practically over.
Nonetheless, for a free gaming experience, it's more than decent.
It's a shame I didn't discover this great game until now。。Interesting operation and graphics，with a really sad story about two rats😢and it made me sad for many days。。
Also thanks to the author for the wonderful game experience！Look forward to new works : )

I mean they do actually chump off their limbs and tails when stuck sticky traps to get out.

very sad game, the art was amazing though. controls a bit finnick but once i got more used to it i got kinda better.
